the more that you read, the more things you will know.

One of my favorite Dr. Suess lines is, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.”

When it's too cold to be outside and we don't have any plans, we usually head to our local bookstore.  While Lincoln is usually a wiggle worm, always moving and trying to find something new to put in his mouth, on our lap with an open book he is very still and very attentive.  I think I read "Brown Bear" at least 6 times a day, and I am in love with his interest in opening every book he can pull off his bookshelf.

The only downside to his new obsession with books is when we want to browse through magazines.  Because, you know.  Those pages are very colorful and tear easily (or apparently have "to Lincoln" written all over them.  And since Lincoln can read, this all makes sense).

  2. We started Eli early and we do it every night. We just say " go get your books" and he comes back with his arms full. It is the best feeling to know you helped nurture your child's desire to learn. Keep it up!

  3. Cutest little family! Ha ha, I can see why tearing magazine pages would be so tempting!

  4. I used to work in a library, and nothing was more awesome than seeing families come in with their little children excited to read and to learn. I seriously pray I get to be the mom with the cool library kids some day.

  5. Aw! He is such a good boy sitting there! Jackson loves books, he literally pulls almost every single one off of his bookshelf everyday and I gladly put them back every night because what could be a better thing for him to get into?! Magazines are fun on long trips or plane rides and they can just rip 'em up and eat 'em up!
