Pocatello trip (part I)

On Saturday night we drove to Pocatello, Idaho, to stay with Tyce's family for a few days.  Since my mom is also from a town near Pocatello, I'm familiar with a few places in the city - one of which is a little 50's diner called Johnny B. Goode's.  We decided to stop on our way in for shakes while we waited for my sister Rachel to make the drive down from Rexburg (technically we were the ones running late, but who is keeping track?) and had everyone meet us there.

Sunday was another story.  Once we got to church, Lincoln decided to do a little "business" when he was jumping on grandma Fuller's lap, so ten minutes before the meeting ended we had to run home and change his outfit.  Since Tyce hasn't been to his home ward for over a year, no one had seen Lincoln yet; of course when the meeting was over we were at home changing baby boy's clothes, so we missed the opportunity to talk with all his old friends he grew up with.  By the time we made it back to church, L was so exhausted he ended up falling asleep on me in the Mother's Lounge.  I guess that's how it goes with a baby, but that doesn't stop me from being frustrated when things like that happen (especially when it involves showing off our cute baby)!

After church we went home and ate hamburgers, fried red potato slices, fruit, and baked beans in their huge backyard by the garden.  Then while Lincoln napped we played Taboo and ate homemade indoor s'more squares.  By the time L woke up, we were so into the game that we sat him on the table and passed him around.  After our team won (yea!) Rachel had to leave to make it to class the next morning.  By the time Tyce and I told her to "drive safe" and went back inside, everyone was watching Thor (even Lincoln while grandma held him), so we snuck off and had a little alone time, just us two.  Aren't grandmas the best?  We think so!

  6. Here's the recipe for the indoor S’mores:
    8 cups Golden Grahams® cereal
    5 cups miniature marshmallows
    1½ cups milk chocolate chips
    ¼ cup light corn syrup
    5 tablespoons butter or margarine
    1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup miniature marshmallows, if desired

Into large bowl, measure cereal. Butter 13x9-inch pan. In large microwavable bowl, microwave 5 cups marshmallows, the chocolate chips, corn syrup and butter uncovered on High 2 minutes to 3 minutes 30 seconds, stirring after every minute, until melted and smooth when stirred. Stir in vanilla.
Pour over cereal; quickly toss until completely coated. Stir in 1 cup marshmallows.
Press mixture evenly in pan, using buttered back of spoon. Let stand uncovered at least 1 hour, or refrigerate if you prefer a firmer bar. For bars, cut into 6 rows by 4 rows. Store loosely covered at room temperature up to 2 days.

    I hope you like them.
